ITV Development Scheme Approved

Lambeth’s planning applications committee have now voted to OK ITV’s proposed development plans for their headquarters on Upper Ground.

The unanimous vote gives ITV the go ahead with the scheme, which includes the demolition of the 1970s London Television Centre building, and the construction of a complex which encompasses three new studios and a large 31 storey residential tower in its place. The granting of full planning permission is now subject to the section 106 agreement being signed.

ITV plans to part fund the scheme by selling the residential tower to a developer upon securing full planning permission. They will also give 3.7 million pounds to Lambeth to be used for the provision of affordable housing in other areas of the borough, in lieu of placing a higher level of affordable housing within the scheme. The level currently stands at just over 10%.

The new scheme has been designed by Hopkins Architects.
